The Andes Mountains are within the borders of Colombia, and are a popular destination for tourists to hike. Colombia has major attractions for a tourist destination, such as Cartagena and its historic surroundings, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List; the insular department of San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina; and Santa Marta and the surrounding area. The coffee region is also a very popular destination, especially the traditional town of Salento,_Quindío and its surroundings.
Day 01 Arrive Cartagena By Flight
Arrival at Cartagena airport meet, assist and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax or explore colonial Cartagena before our welcome meeting. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02 Cartagena – Medellin By Flight
After breakfast, proceed to Medellin where we have the chance to explore the second largest city in Colombia. Famous for its pleasant weather, it earns the nickname “the City of Eternal Spring”. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03 Medellin
After breakfast, proceed to enjoy an orientation tour using local transport including metro and cable-car. Visit The Metropolitan Cathedral in Boliva Park which holds the record for most clay bricks of any building in the world with over 1.1 million. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04 Medellin
After breakfast, proceed to visit a coffee plantation and spend the night in a Hacienda. Learn all about the coffee making process on a coffee tour. We see the roasting process and flavour experimentation, take a walk through the plantation, and visit the wet mill where packaging takes place. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05 Medellin -Salento By Road 251 kms / 05 hrs 25 min appx.
After breakfast, proceed to Nestled in the Zona Cafetera region of Colombia, our next stop is Salento, a coffee addicts heaven. We visit the Cocora Valley by jeep where Colombia’s national symbol is grown, the wax palms. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06 Salento
After breakfast, proceed to the beautiful valley you can hike through the hills and enjoy the sights. In the evenings, make sure you try the regions speciality, trucha a fish normally served with rice but cooked many different ways. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 Salento – Bogota By Road 301 km / 07 hrs appx.
After breakfast, proceed to the Candelaria district, within walking distance of many of the main sights including the main square – Plaza Bolivar, the Cathedral and Simon Bolivar’s house. Here you can opt to take the cable cab to Monserrate for the incredible city views, or visit the world famous gold museum. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08 Depart Bogota By Flight
Departure transfer to onward destination.
