Oman is known for its popular tourist attractions. Wadi’s deserts, beaches, and mountains are areas which make Oman unique to its neighboring GCC nations (Wadis in particular). Jebel Shams is Oman’s tallest mountain, highest point, and is a popular destination for camping. Most of the major malls are located in Muscat, the capital. The largest mall in the country is the Muscat City Centre which was built by Majid Futtaim, an Emirati business man.
Day 01 Arrive Muscat By Flight
Arrive at Muscat international airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02 Muscat
After breakfast, Proceed to Half-Day Muscat City Tour from the Grand Mosque, please consider the dress code. The Mosque is open from 0800 HRS till 1100 HRS except Friday. Pass the embassy quarter and enjoy a guided tour through the beautiful Royal Opera House tour services are just available if there is no rehearsal on stage. Visit the Bait Al Baranda Museum. After this you drive along the corniche to Muttrah Souk. Continue to Al Alam Palace photo stop, which is flanked by two Portuguese Forts, called Al Mirani and Al Jalali. In the afternoon you will again be picked up to enjoy a sunset cruise alongside the coastline of Muscat. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03 Muscat–Bimah Sinkhole–Wadi Tiwi–Sur (301 kms / 5H 10M appx.)
After breakfast, Proceed to leave the capital of Oman to explore the beauty of the country. First stop of the day will be the Bimah Sinkhole. From there you proceed to Sur, enjoying mesmerizing views over the Indian Ocean and Oman’s beautiful white beaches. Enjoy a walk in the evergreen Wadi Tiwi and continue to Sur to visit one of the nowadays rare traditional dhow factories, an open air dhow museum and enjoy a walk through Al Aygah with its beautiful old, wooden doors. In the evening you have the possibility to visit the turtle beach where turtles can be seen laying their eggs as well as baby turtles leaving their nests please note that during your stay it is low season and there is no guarantee to see any turtles. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04 Sur – Al Kamil – Al Wasil (127 kms / 1H 40M appx.)
After breakfast, Proceed to leave the coastal area to discover the beauty of Oman’s Sharqiyah Sands desert. Before that you will discover some of the hidden treasures of Oman. In the small town of Al Kamil you will visit the forts’ museum, which was lovely renovated. After that you will proceed to a gazelle sanctuary to discover some of the rare fauna in Oman. You will soon see the first dunes and enter the desert. Enjoy the sunset on the dunes and a traditional dinner at the camp. Overnight at camp.
Day 05 Al Wasil-Ibra-Birkat Al Mauz-Nizwa (187 kms / 2H 20M appx.)
After breakfast, Proceed to experience more of this fascinating country. The busy, weekly Wednesday market in Ibra will be your first stop today. It is a traditional market for women where they sell mainly handmade crafts and incense. Discover the old part of the city before continuing to Nizwa. You will find yourself surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Oman soon and walk along the banana and date trees in Birkat al Mauz or just enjoy the view of the village. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06 Nizwa – Bahla – Amouage – Muscat (260 kms / 3H 50M appx.)
After breakfast, Proceed to Nizwa, the old capital of Oman. After that you will walk around the souq of Nizwa and get to know more about its history at the fort. This region has a very long and powerful history of which you will have a glimpse during a photo stop at the UNESCO world heritage site Bahla Fort and during your visit of the unique castle in Jabreen. On your way back to Muscat you will stop at the Amouage factory. They are producing one of the finest perfumes of the world and you will be able to have a tour in the factory and to explore the diversity of the different ingredients and incenses closed on Friday and Saturday. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 Muscat-Nahkl–Muscat (86 kms/ 2H 20M appx.)/Depart Muscat
Today’s tour will lead you to the Bathina region. Before you leave the capital you will visit the lively fish market in Seeb, where the local fisher men are selling their catch of the night. Proceed to a camel breeding farm close by Barka where normally people from all over the GCC are looking for a new racing camel. In the early afternoon you reach Nakhl. Visit its beautiful fort which is built on a high mountain. Drive through the old part of the city, passing old mud houses and beautiful gardens and reach to the hot springs Ain Thowarah. Enjoy a walk along the palm trees and the pool area. After that you return to Muscat and reach the airport for your departure. Departure transfer to onward destination.
