Ghana, officially the Republic of Ghana, is a country along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean, in the subregion of West Africa. Spanning a land mass of 238,535 km2, Ghana is bordered by the Ivory Coast in the west, Burkina Faso in the north, Togo in the east, the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean in the south. Ghana means “Warrior King” in the Soninke language.
Day 01 Arrive Accra By Flight
Arrival at Accra, Ghana airport meet, assist and transfer to Hotel for check in & short orientation.Overnight at Accra.
Day 02 Accra
After breakfast, proceed to visit Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and museum, dedicated to Ghana’s first post-independence President. A drive through the colonial section and view Ussher and James Forts built by the Dutch 1650 and British 1673 respectively. The Light House which used to guide ships to the Accra Harbour in colonial days. National Museum, Independence Square & Arch and the central business district Craftsmen at Teshie/Nungua who make fantasy coffins in the shape of vegetables, fruits, cars, airplanes etc.. Arts and Craft market, Osu, nicknamed Oxford Street because of the 24/7 numerous commercial activities. Overnight at Accra.
Day 03 Accra – Wli Waterfalls – Ho (302 kms / 5H 50M appx.)
After breakfast, check out of your hotel. Depart Accra to Wli water falls in the Volta Region. It is the highest waterfalls in West Africa. Overnight at Ho.
Day 04 Ho – Tafi Monkey Sanctuary – Ho (160 kms / 3H 20M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to early morning departure to Tafi Monkey Sanctuary, an example of traditional conservation. In the afternoon visit the Kente cloth weavers in Kpetoe. Return to Ho and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Ho.
Day 05 Ho – Kumasi By Road (312 kms / 6H appx.)
After breakfast, check out of hotel. Transfer from Ho to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. Stop over to visit a local cocoa farm & village. Overnight at Kumasi.
Day 06 Kumasi
After breakfast, proceed to Kumasi Central market, the largest open air market in West Africa. Visit Manhyia Palace Museum, Prempeh 11 Museum, Kumasi Craft villages. Ahwiaa; where woodcarvers produce Ashanti stools, fertility dolls & walking sticks. Ntonso: Adinkra dyeing cloth dye is an extract from the bark of a tree called badie. Bonwire: Kente cloth weaving. Overnight at Kumasi.
Day 07 Kumasi – Elmina By Road (245 kms / 4H appx.)
After breakfast, check out of hotel. Depart Kumasi to Elmina in the Central Region. Arrive in Elmina check in at your hotel and take the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Elmina.
Day 08 Elmina – Kakum – Elmina (70 kms / 1H appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to visit Kakum National Park, a tropical rainforest in the heart of the Attandaso Reserve for an adventurous and breathtaking walk on the ‘Canopy Walkway’ 100ft off the ground. Afternoon visit to Cape Coast & Elmina Castle, both UNESCO Monuments. Overnight at Elmina.
Day 09 Elmina – Nzulezu – Elmina (346 kms / 04H 20M appx.)
After breakfast, travel to visit Nzulezu, a village on stilts constructed on Lake Tadane. Experience how the villagers live their daily lives on water. No visits on Thursday which is a sacred day. Return to Elmina. Overnight at Elmina.
Day 10 Elmina
After breakfast, Free day. Spend the day relaxing at the beach front or by the pool side. Overnight at Elmina.
Day 11 Elmina – Accra By Road/Depart Accra By Flight
Spend the morning packing or at leisure. In the afternoon depart Elmina to Accra ( 157 kms / 03 hrs appx.). Departure transfer to onward destination.
