Albania is a beautiful and historic land with a most welcoming people. She has one of the oldest flags and tongues in Europe, and preserves traditions and culture unadulterated by the outside world for centuries. Her long coastline is washed by the Ionian and Adriatic sea and hides some wonderful beaches. The mountain scenery is stunning; not for nothing do the Albanians know their land as Shqiperia – Land of the Eagles. Here was ancient Illyria and here too that great Roman road, the Via Egnatia, began its long march east to Constantinople.
Day 01 Podgorica – Budva (63 Kms / 1H 10M appx.)
Arrival at Podgorica airport meet, assist and transfer to Budva. Visit of the old town of Budva. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02 Budva – Kotor – Cetinje – Budva (109 Kms / 2H 10M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to Kotor. Visit of the most southern fiord of Euope. Visit of old town with the city walls, Churche of St.Nicola and the Perast museum. Continue to Cetinje, the former capital of Montenegro. Visit and return to Budva. Ovrnight at hotel.
Day 03 Budva – Sveti Stefan – Ulcinj – Shkodra (106 Kms / 2H 15M appx.)
After breakfast, and drive to south. Photo stop in Sveti Stefan continue to Ulcinj and visit of the town.Afternoon travel to Shkodra. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04 Shkodra – Kruja – Tirana (117 Kms / 2H 15M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to Shkodra. Visit Rozafa castle with an amazing view all around the lake of Shkodra and the Mezi Bridge. Drive to Lezha, visiting the memorial grave of Skanderbeg, where he was buried. You will drive toKruja is a medioeval city, visit of the castle, Skanderbeg museum, the ancient bazar ( hand craft’s market ). Drive to Tirana. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05 Tirana – Ohrid (135 Kms / 2H 28M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to morning tour of the Albanian capital , including visits to the National museum, the main square and its clock tower, university and boulevard. Departure for Ohrid. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06 Ohrid – Veskopoje – Korca (116 Kms / 2H 20M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to visit of Ohrid. The church of Sveti Sophia, Sv Kaneo and Sv Kliment. After we drive to border to Albania and make Visit in Sv Naum before leaving Mazedonia. Contine to Veskopoje visiting the monastery and churches with wonderful paintings. Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 Korce – Girokaster – Sarande (260 Kms / 6H 40M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to visit of the Icon Museum. Departure to Girokaster.Any houses in Gjirokaster have a distinctive local style that has earned the city the nickname “ Town of the stones “, because most of the old houses have roofs covered with stones ( Unesco World Heritage Site ). Great importance are the museum of Weapons, Enver Hoxha house, the caste. Continue to Sarande. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08 Sarande – Butrint – Vlore (240 Kms / 4H 35Mn appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to discover Butrint. A trip through scenic mountains. Interesting things to see in Butrint include the Greek amphitheatre (later remodeled by the Romans), the baptistry, the cathedral, the lion’s gate, and the museum which includes many interesting artifacts found in the area. This day we will only drive along the Albanian Riviera overlooking the Ionian Sea. we proceed to Borsh, peace surrounded by waterfalls and running water. we continue for Porto Palermo, where the Ali Pasha Castle stands like a barrier in front of the blue rocky sea as a protection for the country. The bay of Porto Palermo once served as an important secret submarine base during the regime days. The semi abandoned base and the tunnel are still visible. 30 minutes before Vlora we will stop at Llogara National Park for a quick break to have a stunning view of one of the most dramatic mountains of the Mediterranean and with panoramas overlooking the sea. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09 Vlore – Apollonia – Berat (91 Kms / 2H appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to archaeological site of Apollonia, known for its Greek theatre, ancient fortifications and temple of gods, Roman classic promenade, city forum library, medioeval monastry and church. You proceed to Berat. Its most striking feature is the collection of white Ottoman houses climbing up the hill to its castle, earning it the title of “ town of a thousand windows “. The town also has a 15th century mosque and a number of churches – houses, painted by the renowned Painter Onufri during16th century of interest is also the Onufri museum. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 Berat – Durres (90 Kms / 1H 22M appx.)
After breakfast, transfer to Durres. One of the most ancient cities in Albania. Visit of the fortress, with a prominet venetian tower, the amphitheatre ( one of the biggest in the Balkan Peninsula ), the archeological museum. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11 Depart Durres
Departure transfer to onward destination.
