The beautiful town of Bhaktapur sits on the outskirts of Kathmandu is home to one of the three “Durbar squares” in the valley. This thrilling experience gives the opportunity to arrive in this ancient town in a truly unique and memorable way, on a mountain bike. Prepare yourself for a journey through picturesque villages and some truly breath-taking Himalayan vistas as you wind your way towards Bhaktapur. The ride starts from Nargakot, a village set on a ridge overlooking the Kathmandu Valley. There are some fairly steep and narrow sections of path before you reach a more level section of track which winds its way through some ancient forest. After a brief climb pedal along a ridge with dramatic views of the Kathmandu Valley to the south you will arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Changu Narayan for a visit (shorter rides can finish here). The route then descends along stony village trails, rutted jeep tracks, single track roads and along raised paddy field paths. Finish at the ancient city of Bhaktapur where you have time to explore the medieval streets and have lunch in a local restaurant before driving back to your hotel.
