In the capital, Algiers, Ottoman landmarks like circa-1612 Ketchaoua Mosque line the hillside Casbah quarter, with its narrow alleys and stairways. The city’s Neo-Byzantine basilica Notre Dame d’Afrique dates to French colonial rule.
Day 01 Arrive Algiers
Arrival at Algiers airport meet, assist and transfer to hotel in central Algiers.
Followed by a walking tour and drive orientation: Place des Martyrs (17th century El Djedid Mosque), Place Emir Abdelkader (panoramic square with statue of founder of Algerian nation), neo-Moorish Grande Poste, esplanade. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02 Algiers
After breakfast, proceed to whole-day Tomb of the Christian excursion (Royal Mausoleum of Mauritania, one of the most enigmatic archaeological remnants of North Africa), Tipasa (UNESCO World Heritage Site along Mediterranean): Roman amphitheater, 4th century basilica, forum, old harbor and delicious museum. Later back to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03 Algiers – Annaba (By Flight)
After breakfast, proceed to visit Bardo Museum (housed in neo-Moorish villa), Museum of Antiquities and Islamic Arts, Continue to Algiers airport and transfer to the hotel on the Mediterranean coast near Annaba Hotel for nights. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04 Annaba
After breakfast, proceed to visit Annaba (19th century) Basilica “modern” Augustine followed by ancient settlement Hippo Regius (excellent museum, site where Saint Augustine was bishop) visit to Annaba (during the Revolution, the cornice) and Cape Garda. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05 Annaba – Constantine (By Raod) (297 Kms / 04 hrs 50 min appx.)
After breakfast, drive to Kasbah, Constantine (City of Bridges): Constantine Museum, Kasbah, suspension bridge, Palace of Ahmed Bey. Later back to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06 Constantine – Lambese (By Road) (464 Kms / 7 hrs appx.)
After breakfast, excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Timgad (huge library, colonnaded streets, temples, amphitheater, Arch of Trajan, basilica) later continuing to Roman garrison town of Lambese (amphitheater guard praetorian). Overnight at hotel.
Day 07 Lambese – Algiers (By Road) (400 Kms / 05 hrs appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to visit UNESCO World Heritage site Djemila (ancient garrison Cuicul) forum, temples, basilicas, triumphal arches, the museum of the beautiful mosaic followed by Beni Fouda (on the border of the old and Nuimidia Mauritania). Suivi by Setif (archaeological museum with splendid Bacchus mosaic) Later Continue to Algiers. Overnight at hotel.
Day 08 Algiers
After breakfast, UNESCO World Heritage casbah with a visit to the mosque, Museum of Decorative Arts. After visit return to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09 Algiers
After breakfast, proceed to visit city of Oran. Overnight at hotel.
Day 10 Algiers – Telemcen (By Road) (514 kms / 05 hrs 30 min appx.)
After breakfast, drive to telemcen and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit Telemcen. Later back to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 11 Telemcen – Algiers (By Road) (514 kms / 07H appx.)/Dep. Algiers
Departure transfer to onward destination.
