Romania is a southeastern European country known for the forested region of Transylvania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. Its preserved medieval towns include Sighisoara, and there are many fortified churches and castles, notably clifftop Bran Castle, long associated with the Dracula legend. Bucharest, the country’s capital, is the site of the gigantic, Communist-era Palatul Parlamentului government building.

Day 01 Bucharest – Sinaia – Bran – Brasov (78 Kms / 1H 35M appx.)
Arrival at Bucharest airport meet assist and later depart on the route stop at Sinaia and visit the Peles Castle, former summer residence of the kings of Romania. Continue your journey to Bran with it’s famous Bran castle. Also called Dracula’s Castle, it is situated not far from Brasov at the entrance in the Bran – Rucar passage. The castle got its fame from Dracula’s legend written in 1897 by Bram Stoker and later on made into a film by Francis Ford Coppola. The first documents about the Bran Castle appeared in 1377. In the afternoon we’ll spend couple hours in Bran village area to learn more about the traditional life in a Romanian mountain village. Overnight at Brasov.

Day 02 Braso – Bicaz goeges – Gura Humorului (335 Kms / 5H 50M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to walking tour of the medieval center of Brasov 2 hours. The city of Brasov is one of the oldest in Europe, dating from 1235. During the Middle Ages, Brasov was known as a powerful fortress surrounded by high stone walls and defended by bulwarks, towers and other small fortresses. The buildings and the streets in the historical centre still preserve a medieval note. Concil Square, Black Church, White and Black Towers, Weaver’s Bastion and Ecaterina’s Gate are the tour highlights. Next we’ll cross the Carpathians mountains heading north-east to one of the most famous and popular region of Romania – Bucovina, the land of painted monasteries. It is a very scenic road which offer amazing landscapes. We’ll pass Red Lake, Bicaz Gorges and Bicaz Lake on our way to Bucovina. In the afternoon arrive at Gura Humorului. Bucovina is also the land of very well preserved old tradition. Taste the delicious local cuisine. Overnight at Gura Humorului.

Day 03 Gura Humorului
After breakfast, proceed to explore the Bucovina region – the land of World famous Painted Monasteries. Voronet UNESCO: founded in 1488 by Stephen the Great . It is the most accomplished sample of artistic achievement in Moldavian architecture and painting . The doors of the porch have a Renaissance framing, whereas the stone carvings of the broken arches at the doors and windows belong to the Gothic style. Voronet Monastery had been dubbed the oriental Sistine Chapel , whereas Voronet Blue , a color obtained from lapis lazuli, entered in the lexicon of art alongside Titian red and Veronese green, and to this day has yet to be reproduced by natural means. Moldovita UNESCO: dates back from 1532 and is due to the ruling prince Petru Rares It has the aspect of a fortress, with imposing towers and high, thick walls. The church has a three-cusped plan, as well as an open porch. It Is decorated with scenes from the 16th c Moldavian life. You can see here the best preserved frescoes, with fresh and vivid colors. Sucevita: the last and the most magnificent monastic achievement among the painted monasteries in Bucovina , looks as a real fortress, with towers, buttresses and watch roads. Built in 1581, by one bishop, it was dedicated to the Assumption in 1584. Paintings of the Sucevita monastery were best preserved both on the outside and on the inside Ladder of Virtue, the last Judgment, the tree of Jesse. Beside the old and beautiful monasteries we’ll also dedicate some time to visit local craftsmens as: a painted eggs museum and workshop, Marginea pottery center, aso. Return to Gura Humoruluil. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04 Gura Humorului – Maramures (249 Kms / 04H 52M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to Maramures, the northern region of Romania, the land of wooden churches and well preserved traditions. Today we’ll visit the wooden church from Ieud, the oldest wooden building from Europe, built in 14-een century. At Dragomiresti we’ll visit the Maramures Woman Museum, where you can learn about maramuresean traditions and way of live. According with the time we’ll go to explore a countryside area of old and isolated villages with low influence of modern times. Visit some local craftsmens. Overnight at Maramuresean.

Day 05 Maramures – Sighisoara (253 Kms / 04H 23M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to explore Maramures visiting Barsana Monastery and also driving to an authentic countrisede area with old villages and craftsmens. Visit an old worksop and a local household.
Then we’ll depart from Maramures region back to Transylvania. Stop at Sighisoara UNESCO, also caled “The Pearl of Transylvania” a wonderful medieval city where you can stil enjoy the medieval atmosphere. The citadel built in 13th century by German saxon settlers it was an important cultural and artist center in medieval period. The old town is considered one of the best preserved medieval towns from Europe and its included in the UNESCO heritages list. Overnight at Sighisoara.

Day 06 Sighisoara – Sibiu  (93 Kms / 01H 37M appx.)
After breakfast, proceed to visit Sighisoara: Church on the hill, Clock Tower, Tinsmiths Tower, Covered Stairs, aso are the most important sights. Depart from Sighisoara on a route which is crossing very old villages inspired by saxon’s architecture. You may find more details visiting places as Biertan or Malancrav. We hope that you had a pleasent and special evening the day before we are inviting you back on the road. We’ll arrive at Sibiu, the oldest and the biggest medieval city from Transylvania and former capital. Visit the center of Sibiu. Main highlights: Little Square and Grand Square, Evanghelical Cathedral, Lier’s Bridge, Bruckental Museum, defensive towers and fortifications, a.s.o. Overnight at Sibiu.

Day 07 Sibiu – Bucharest (277 Kms / 04H 10M appx.)
Departure transfer to Bucharest airport for flight to onward destination.
